Shannon Aldworth, MSN, RN
Shannon joined the Center for Hope of the Sierras in 2013 as the Director of Nursing. In her role, she oversees the nursing care and programming for residents and clients at the RTC and PHP/IOP office. She especially enjoys the opportunity to spend time with and develop relationships with the residents and clients of these facilities. Shannon received her Bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Illinois, where she also received a minor in Chemistry and completed research in Biochemistry. She received her Master of Science in Nursing from DePaul University in Chicago. During her graduate studies, she completed a fellowship through the Albert Schweitzer foundation providing care to previously incarcerated women and their children. She also had the opportunity to work within the British National Health System to provide and assist homeless individuals with access to Mental Healthcare. Shannon began her career as an Emergency & Trauma nurse and continued her career as an Operating Room nurse. Shannon’s most recent professional experience applied her clinical expertise in the classroom as a Professor of Nursing. She especially enjoyed teaching Pathophysiology and Pharmacology. Shannon was also responsible for managing the department for academic success, where she helped students to understand and apply nursing concepts. Shannon recently relocated to the Reno area from Chicago. She is enjoys art, hiking with her dachshund, biking, cooking, skiing, running, reading, and yoga.
