Roberta Trattner Sherman, PhD
Drs. Ron A Thompson and Roberta Trattner Sherman are psychologists in private practice in Bloomington, Indiana, specializing in the treatment of eating disorders. They have also been consulting psychologists for the Athletic Department at Indiana University-Bloomington for the past 20 years. In addition to their clinical work, Drs. Thompson and Sherman lecture, write, and conduct research on the topic of eating disorders, in addition to providing education and training regarding eating disorders to athletes, coaches, and other sport personnel and healthcare professionals at National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) member institutions. Most recently, they have coauthored the Disordered Eating section of the International Olympic Committee Medical Commission Position Stand on the Female Athlete Triad, as well as the NCAA Coaches Handbook: Managing the Female Athlete Triad. Included in their publications is the book Helping Athletes with Eating Disorders. Drs. Thompson and Sherman are Fellows in the Academy for Eating Disorders (AED) and co-chair the AED Special Interest Group on Athletes.
